The entrance leads to a form of vestibule that precedes the latrine itself.
The entrance of the vestibule and the door of the latrine are not aligned, giving privacy from passers-by.

A deep sewer trench was provided with a water supply inlet pipe and a sewerage outlet pipe.
The stone structures sticking out from the wall would have held wooden benches to accommodate people.

The latrine had not yet been completed by the time of the 79AD eruption.
The walls were lacking plaster. The water supply pipes were not connected to the city water supply.
The drainage pipes were not connected to the city sewerage.
