The entrance leads to a form of vestibule that precedes the latrine itself.

The entrance of the vestibule and the door of the latrine are not aligned, giving privacy from passers-by.

The latrine had not yet been completed by the time of the 79AD eruption.
The walls were lacking plaster. The water supply pipes were not connected to the city water supply.
The drainage pipes were not connected to the city sewerage.
